Wedding Invitations

As you know at Cutture we are becoming known for pushing the boundaries with paper from time to time. This is largely due to our spatial and architectural heritage and as model makers in a previous life, so little tricks of the trade are coming in handy again. We have devised pop up wedding invitations for a number of brides and grooms and are continuously creating new formats for more designs, we have formats for standard pop ups as well as boxed pop ups, book binding invitations, free standing wedding invitations and many other designs.

It is important to realise that when we create our wedding invitations, event invitations or our popular pop up wedding invitations we literally make everything, we make the box, we create the structure, laser cut the elements, fold and stick it all together, so these are heavily skilled and time consuming pieces to make, at least 15 processes. If you are ordering two hundred invites, that’s quite a few workshop hours.

Wedding invitations should speak your personality and style. The first insight into you and your wedding that your guests receive is the invitation, presenting a design that is beautiful and recognisable as you is what you should aim to create with your invitations. This can then be followed through with co-ordinated stationery and decoration for your wedding day. Cutture can provide all elements of wedding stationery from invitations and menus to table plans and place settings that really tell the story of who you are as a couple and yet also provide a very important functional role on the day. Save the Date Wedding Invitations

Many brides and bridegrooms organising a wedding decide to send a 'save the date' invitation once they have booked their venue, or if they have decided on a date but not confirmed venues. These are usually sent before final arrangements have been made that will appear in the formal wedding invitation. Save the date invitations usually have very little information apart from the date. Wedding invitations include all of the wedding information for guests and often also include additional information like places to stay and travel information.

Traditional Definition of a Wedding Invitation

A wedding invitation is a letter asking the recipient to attend a wedding service and reception party or dinner following the legal marriage. Like any other invitation, it is the privilege and duty of the host, to issue invitations. Unusually for other types of celebration reception it is often the case in western culture, especially for a younger brides family for the brides family or parents to send invitations on behalf of the bride.

When Should I Send my Wedding Invitations?

Depending on where your wedding is there are various time scales to work to. If you are sending a save the date invitation, typically it’s good to send save the date invitations 6-8 months prior to the wedding, then your wedding invitations 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding.
If there are no save the date invitations, traditionally, you would send your wedding invitations 3 months prior to the wedding.

However, these days if you are having a destination wedding or you have a lot of guests travelling from afar you may wish to send your invitations out 6 months before the wedding, so it is something to consider for guests who need to book accommodation and flights.
